I had a dream once

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

(part of his full speech) By Martin Luther King Jr.

What this speech is trying to say its that America was being racist against the African-Americans until Martin Luther King Jr. arrived to the states and complained about the racism in America so he decided that he will speak in front of thousands of African-Americans and white Americans to explain how he felt about the negro slavery in America. He changed a lot of lives in America and how people react when they see an African-American.

Truth ~ Poem

Truth, like a thief borrows and
never gives back,
not in the dunes not ever.
Covered in a coat of lies.
So speak only of sincerity.

Creativity ~ Essay

A young boy named Santiago

‘“Allah taught me the language of the birds. Everything has been written by the same hand” (Coelho 106).’ Santiago is a learner of mind and that he is also a quick learner also that he can listen to God (Allah) in his own way, ‘Everything has been written by the same hand’ it probably means that everything was created for its own purpose in life and that it has its own meaning. Santiago is a boy from Andalusia, Spain. He had a dream of a treasure in a ruined church. He decided will go see a dream interpreter to tell him where he wanted to go in order to find his treasure. The dream interpreter tells him that the treasure he was dreaming of was in the pyramids in al-Fayoum, Egypt. Santiago didn’t have money. She said if you find the treasure you will give me one tenth of it. Santiago is a participant of his destiny because he is adventurous, courageous and knowledgeable.

Santiago is adventurous because he travels from Andalusia, Spain to Al-Fayoum, Egypt. His adventure is unique because it is a long journey in which he is tested by many people and must overcome obstacles as he moves towards his destiny. He was tested by people such as the thief in the market, because he was distracted by the lovely sword in the stand ‘“Ask the owner how much the sword costs,” he said to his friend. Then he realized that he had been distracted for a few moments, looking at the sword. His heart squeezed, as if his chest had suddenly compressed it’ (Coelho 36). He was tested because he knew he shouldn’t have trusted him with his money. He realized that later when he went back to the bar the bartender was yelling at him not because he was doing anything he wasn’t supposed to do, but to warn him that he was a thief . He managed to overcome the desert and the caravan, because the caravan driver told him that there were wars between the tribes crossing the desert. Santiago is very adventurous despite the challenges he encounters, he never stops trying to achieve his destiny. While Santiago is very adventurous, he must also rely on courage to achieve his destiny.

Santiago is courageous because he goes all the way to Egypt in order to fulfil his destiny. It shows that he is very courageous and he will have to go through all these obstacles in order to get there. He has to get through all kinds of things, like the thief in the market place or the desert with its blowing wind or even the people that beat him up when he was digging near the pyramids, he still didn’t give up, he kept on going and going until he finally reached the end of his journey. ‘“What are you hiding there?” “I’m not hiding anything,” the boy answered. But one of them seized the boy and yanked him back out of the hole. As the sun rose, the men began to beat the boy.”(Coelho 154).

Santiago is knowledgeable because he knew about the flight of the hawks and what they were trying to tell him, the hawks were trying to tell him is that there was an army coming to attack their tribe, so he decides to tell the elderly. ‘“Suddenly, one of the hawks made a flashing dive through the sky, attacking the other. As it did so, a sudden fleeting image came to the boy: an army, with its swords at the ready, riding in the oasis.”’ (Coelho 95)

Participant

I said that Santiago participated in his destiny because no matter what went in his way he never stopped doing what he always wanted to achieve. His dream of the treasure in the ruined church, yet he didn’t know that it was right there where he had started, he always tried hard in thinking deeper and deeper into his thoughts he always did get it right, he never stopped going where he wanted to go in his dream, he never gave up, like when he couldn’t find the treasure near the pyramids and the desert people started to beat him up, he never did stop digging, he did eventually find his treasure, and then he realized that he was where he had started.

I possess the trait creative because my ideas are creative, they are used well from time to time and most of the time they serve well the people that use it.
